A magnitude 5.8 earthquake has struck Alaska

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 has occurred in Alaska. This was reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) on January 30.

Underground tremors were detected in 71 km to the south-east of the town of Nikolai. The depth amounted to 0.1 km.

It is noted that there was no information about victims, as well as destruction. Specialists continue to monitor the situation.

Earlier, on January 21, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 was recorded off the coast of Turkey. It was noted that the origin of the shocks ran at a depth of 10 km and 135 km west-northwest of the city of Manisa, which is home to at least 243 thousand people.
