On Thursday, January 30, the press center of the Izvestia media center is hosting a round table discussion of the Expert Institute for Social Research (EISR) on the topic: "Elections of the President of Abkhazia: what path will the republic choose?".

On February 15th presidential elections will be held in Abkhazia, to which the republic is approaching against the background of tangible division of society. It is caused by opposition protests and energy crisis that arose after refusal of some Abkhazian politicians to sign economic agreements with Russia.

What moods dominate in Abkhazian society today? Who can become the next president of Abkhazia if elections are held fairly? How can Abkhazia solve the problems accumulated in society?

Participants:

- Alexei Martynov, director of the Institute of Modern States, associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation;

- Victor Poturemsky, Director of Political Analysis at the Institute of Social Marketing (INSOMAR);

- Kan Tania, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia;

- Valery Fedorov, Director General of VTsIOM;

- Anna Fedorova, political scientist, EISI expert.

Moderator: Pavel Danilin, Associate Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Director of the Center for Political Analysis, member of the Public Chamber of Moscow.
