CBS has learned of the recovery of the bodies of 18 dead from the river after a plane crash in Washington, D.C.

The bodies of 18 victims were taken out of the river in Washington, where the airplane collided with a military helicopter fell. This is reported by the TV channel CBS News with reference to the police.

"A police official at the scene told CBS News that there were three fields of debris in the water and that at least 18 bodies had been recovered. According to the official, no survivors have been found yet," the publication says.

Earlier in the day in the US, a plane crashed into the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA). The airport administration said all takeoffs and landings have been suspended. A search and rescue operation was launched on the Potomac River after the plane crashed.
