The US Federal Reserve System (FRS), which performs the functions of the central bank of the state, after three cuts managed to keep the key rate at the level of 4.25-4.5%. This was reported on January 29 by the press service of the regulator.

"In support of its objectives, the Committee decided to maintain the target range of the federal funds rate at 4.25% to 4.5%. When considering the scope and timing of additional adjustments to the target range of the federal funds rate, the Committee will carefully evaluate incoming data," the press service said.

It is specified that the interest rate remains such due to the fact that over the past few months the unemployment rate in the country has stabilized, while favorable conditions in the labor market have remained. The Fed also reported that the country's inflation rate is at a "somewhat elevated" level.

In addition, the Fed added that at the moment all efforts are aimed at lowering the inflation rate to the target of 2%, which is the norm for the United States.

Also, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell during his speech at a press conference in Washington, D.C., said that the service does not stick to any predetermined course, it makes all its future decisions based on the development of the country's economy.

"We are not following any set course. As the economy develops, we will adjust our policy," Powell said.

Earlier, on January 14, Arthur Meinhard, head of the analytical department for global markets at IC Fontvielle, told Izvestia that in January 2025, the DXY dollar index, which reflects its value against a basket of key currencies, reached 109 points - the maximum value since the fall of 2022. Such strengthening of the U.S. national currency is not an accident, but a direct consequence of the election rhetoric of the future U.S. president.

Later, on January 25, US President Donald Trump said at a speech in Las Vegas that the US economy has great prospects. The state has significant prospects in the economy due to the large amount of oil and gas.
