Sakhalin artillery crews of the Vostok group of troops have destroyed a command post and an ammunition depot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the South Donetsk direction of the special military operation (SMO). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 30.

The ministry specified that the servicemen received the enemy's coordinates from the operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The targets were at a distance of more than 10 kilometers. Immediately after receiving the data, the artillerymen carried out pointing and destroyed enemy points with a cursory fire with real-time fire correction.

"The tasks are constantly different, mainly manpower, strongholds, assistance to our infantry. When the enemy tries to counterattack, we conduct return fire from our "swallow". During the last work during the liberation of a populated area was hit the enemy's control center," - said the commander of the gun with the call sign Ural.

After accomplishing the combat task, the servicemen camouflaged the guns and promptly left for underground shelters.

Earlier, on January 29, a Strela-10 surface-to-air missile system of the Center group of troops destroyed an enemy drone, thus providing cover for the actions of Russian servicemen's units in the Red Army direction of the North Caucasus Military District.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, is still ongoing. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
