D-30 howitzer crews of the artillery unit of the "North" group of troops have destroyed platoon strongholds with militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the zone of the special military operation (SMO). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 30.

The ministry specified that the calculations received coordinates from drone operators, prepared the guns and opened fire on the identified targets.

"The first goal we have is to hit the enemy's manpower, strongholds, their dugouts, rotation. In general, as if the work is done, the "bird" reports, identifies the enemy's living force, transmits the coordinates to me, I calculate them, direct my platoon," - said the gun commander with the call sign Timar.

Also gunner of the gun with the call sign Sinych said that during the combat work the detected enemy was completely destroyed. A minimum number of shells were used during the strikes.

The calculations are in constant readiness around the clock. Artillerymen are able to work on various targets at long range. It takes Russian servicemen no more than three minutes to fire a salvo.

The artillerymen of the "North" group of troops conduct concentrated and stationary barrage fire against the enemy, which allows Russian army units to successfully advance into enemy territory.

Earlier, on January 29, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Grad multiple rocket launcher systems (MLRS) of the All-Russian Army of the "West" group of troops destroyed strongholds, pickup trucks, automatic rocket-propelled grenade launchers, mortar launchers, UAV control points and AFU manpower in the SSO zone.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
