The situation on the border with Ukraine does not particularly affect the life of Belarusians in Novaya Huta, the nearest village to the border crossing of the same name.

"We have a wonderful swimming pool, there are dachas nearby. There's also a forest around, we go mushroom picking, a river, men do fishing. We have tons of things to do. Yes, sometimes drones are shot down, there are a lot of military around, maybe there is some excitement, but we are used to it. Our border guards are good, we rely on them, as well as on our leadership," a local resident says.

Earlier there was high traffic through the settlement. However, its absence also did not affect the residents.

"In a few years, everyone has already adapted. I'm a pensioner, I sleep at night, so I can't say about any very tense situation," another resident says.

The situation on the border between Belarus and Ukraine has aggravated in 2022.
