Scammers have started sending dry ice instead of expensive goods in deliveries

Logisticians have encountered such a fraud scheme as "dry ice", market participants told Izvestia. Thus, under the guise of expensive goods, a client handed over boxes with dry ice inside for delivery, since it has a large weight, and the company was not suspicious.
During transportation the ice evaporated and empty boxes arrived at the destination. The customer then demanded reimbursement for the "theft" of the goods.
Among other examples of customer fraud, logisticians highlighted the substitution of goods. That is, when instead of expensive smartphones, the customer gives pieces of soap or stones for delivery. At the same time, the goods are packed in boxes from under the "originals".
"It happened that the client sent the goods several times with the same damage, which is impossible to detect during inspection," - said a representative of one of the companies.
At the same time, in 2024, every third case of fraud in cargo insurance in logistics was related to staging of insurance events, analysts of the digital platform of cargo insurance support Zunami reported, based on the results of the "Antifraud" module.
