On January 30, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the exploits of Russian fighters in the zone of the special military operation (SMO).

According to the ministry, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operator, Private Mikhail Chernov, was carrying out combat missions to support Russian servicemen in the assault on fortified strongholds and long-term fire installations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). During the battle, the assault group fell into a fire ambush.

The AFU machine gun crew, being at a dominant height and well-fortified position, constrained the actions of the group of Russian attackers, forcing them to fight in unprepared positions. Having competently assessed the situation and quickly prepared the attack UAV for flight, Chernov immediately sent it to the area of the enemy machine gunners. Having promptly found the location of the enemy machine-gun crew, the serviceman destroyed it with a targeted hit from the drone. Competent and decisive actions of Chernov allowed the group to continue the offensive and knock the enemy out of an important stronghold.

The Defense Ministry also reported that the group under the command of Guards Private Anatoly Sineglazov carried out a combat mission to detect enemy positions, identify long-term fortifications and armored vehicles, and adjust the fire of Russian artillery units.

In the course of offensive operations Sineglazov together with his subordinates stealthily moved to the line of contact, and competently led the subordinate personnel under continuous fire from the enemy. The serviceman identified the most dangerous centers of resistance and firing points of the AFU, the coordinates of which he immediately transmitted to the positions of the Russian artillery for defeat and corrected its fire.

After the end of the battle Sineglazov together with his subordinates prepared several hidden dugouts, camouflaging them using improvised materials. Over the next two days, without revealing their location, a group of Russian fighters monitored the enemy and transmitted to the artillery control center the coordinates of targets to be hit, as a result of which the enemy positions were destroyed along with the fighters and equipment located there, the ministry said.

Earlier, on January 29, the Russian Defense Ministry said that military units of the Center forces had destroyed firing points and command and observation posts of Ukrainian militants in Novoelizavetovka in the Donetsk People's Republic with the help of drones.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
