For five years the passenger traffic of the Moscow region has grown by 80 million, as Deputy Chairman of the regional government Alexei Gerzhik stated on Wednesday, January 29.

During the Open rostrum in the Moscow Municipal Duma the official noted that only for 2024 the passenger traffic amounted to almost 800 million. There are about 2 thousand routes in the region, and about 8 thousand buses work on the lines.

Gerzhik added that 46% of trips were made on social cards, reports Radio 1.

On the same day, Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov said that since 2011 passenger traffic on all directions of the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) in the Moscow region has increased by 43%.

He added that the diameters give a powerful impetus to the development of territories: new housing and social infrastructure are being built, small business and trade are developing, and new jobs are being created, according to the Moscow City News Agency.
