Russian regions reported on measures taken to curb prices


On January 29, the Chuvash Republic, Kaluga Region and the Republic of Crimea told Izvestiya about the measures taken by the regions to curb the growth of prices for goods. Among other things, the regions told about their interaction with regional departments of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS).
The Ministry of Economic Development of Chuvashia is taking all necessary measures to curb price growth. First of all, these measures are aimed at support and development of competition in the sphere of production, agriculture, small and medium-sized businesses, small-format trade, saturation of the market with products of local producers, said Boris Krasnov, press secretary of the Head of the Chuvash Republic.
In addition, negotiating platforms for interaction with retail chains are being organized. In November 2024, a procurement session "Supplier Day" was held, which was attended by 36 producers of food products, consumer goods and representatives of retail chains. The event discussed the basic principles and standards of work with suppliers, problematic issues arising in the interaction between manufacturers and retail chains, held an exhibition of products of Chuvash commodity producers, organized a negotiation platform for the supply of products.
"The Ministry of Economic Development of Chuvashia is taking all necessary measures to curb price growth. First of all, these measures are aimed at supporting and developing competition in the sphere of production, agriculture, small and medium-sized entrepreneurship, small-format trade, saturation of the market with products of local producers," Krasnov said.
Joint meetings of the headquarters for monitoring and prompt response to changes in the food commodity markets of the Kaluga region are also held.
In accordance with the order of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea from 11.03.2024 № 359-r "On measures to develop trade and consumer market, stabilization of prices for socially important food products in the Republic of Crimea" created a Coordination Council on the development of trade and consumer market, stabilization of prices for socially important food products in the Republic.
Within the framework of the Coordination Council in March 2024, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea and producers of food products, wholesale and retail trade system entities, as well as agricultural consumer cooperatives signed an Agreement on taking measures aimed at stabilizing retail prices for goods included in the list of socially important products. The signatories of the Agreement on a voluntary basis undertook obligations not to exceed 5% of trade markup.
Last year, on November 8, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, when asked by Izvestia, said that the government, together with the Central Bank (CBR) of Russia, was working to reduce inflation, the level of which has been decreasing for three months. According to him, the Central Bank's tight monetary policy is aimed at easing inflationary processes and reducing inflationary expectations.
