The first civil supersonic airplane produced in the USA has broken the sound barrier. Information about this was published on January 28 on the website of Boom Supersonic.

"The XB-1 aircraft entered the supersonic corridor and reached an altitude of 35,000 feet before accelerating to 750 mph, breaking the sound barrier for the first time," the statement reads.

The test was conducted at the Mojave Desert Aerospace Center in California.

Earlier, on August 17, 2024, it was reported that the U.S. Department of Defense awarded a $12.5 billion contract to a large number of companies to upgrade and maintain the U.S. Air Force's base infrastructure globally.
