The German government does not intend to abandon the use of social network X (formerly Twitter), despite the fact that the country's Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the owner of the platform, American businessman Ilon Musk made critical remarks about each other. On January 29, the Reuters news agency wrote that.

"There will be no repercussions. Our statement continues to say that we consider and weigh what is happening there on a case-by-case basis," the media outlet quoted the Bundestag statement as saying.

Earlier, on January 28, Scholz said that Musk's support for right-wing politicians in Europe is a disgusting fact. The German Chancellor added that this is not good for democratic development throughout the European Union, but he personally is not used to the interference of media moguls in German politics.

The chancellor also noted that he is critical of what the owner of X says about Germany's history. According to Scholz, Germany has every reason to take responsibility for the past.

Prior to that, on January 25, Musk said at a campaign event of the Alternative for Germany party that the German government was taking a totalitarian approach to restricting freedom of speech in the country. The entrepreneur urged Germans to be proud of their nation and stop feeling guilty about the past.

The next day, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the words of the entrepreneur. According to him, Musk's statement sounded "too familiar and ominous".
