In Australia, 14 members of a religious sect who deliberately deprived an eight-year-old child of diabetes medication have been found guilty of manslaughter. This was reported by the Associated Press agency on January 29.

The materials note that the deceased is Elizabeth Rose Shtrus, who died on January 7, 2022, after six days without insulin injections. She suffered from type 1 diabetes.

It is clarified that two of those involved in the girl's death are her parents. The agency added that the girl's father, who was the leader of a religious group, was initially charged with premeditated murder.

"All 14 men have been taken into custody and will appear in court for sentencing on February 11. Each of them faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment," the agency noted.

Earlier, January 23, it was reported that the teenager Axel Rudakubana was sentenced to 52 years in prison for the murder of three girls in the town of Southport in the UK. It is specified that he entered a dance studio with a kitchen knife and attacked the three girls. He was apprehended when he was near the body of one of the victims. An analysis of his electronic devices later revealed that he was obsessed with violence and ideas of genocide.

The attack by a teenager with a knife in the town of Southport was reported on July 29, 2024. Later, on July 30, riots broke out in Southport. People brought flowers, balloons and soft toys. Many came with children. At the same time near the city mosque there were clashes with police.

Protesters set fire to a police van and attacked the police. The protesters pulled cobblestones from the sidewalk to throw them at the police.
