"The boy is being treated in hospital after he was bitten by a shark on a beach in Western Australia on Thursday (January 23. - Ed.)," the publication said on January 24.

The shark attacked the teenager while he was swimming in shallow water near Shipwreck Bay near the Gold Coast town.

As a result of the shark bite, the child suffered injuries to his lower body. Doctors were able to save the boy, at the moment his life is not threatened, specified the channel.

Earlier, on December 29, 2024, Reuters reported that in the Egyptian resort of Marsa Alam as a result of a shark attack one tourist was killed and another suffered. Russian Consul General in Hurghada Viktor Voropayev specified that tourists from Italy were injured.
