Car recycling fee in Belarus will be equal to the Russian one

The Government of Belarus has recalculated the rates of utilization fee on cars. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko. The document provides for the alignment of recycling fee rates with those in force in Russia since January 1, 2025, according to the message of the Belarusian government.
Belarus has recalculated the recycling fee, which is paid by both individuals and legal entities on vehicles and self-propelled machines and (or) trailers to them, produced in the country, as well as imported into its territory, except as provided for by international treaties, according to the report, published by the press service of the government on January 28.
The resolution should come into force 10 days after its official publication.
"What awaits Russians? In the risk zone - only those who bring expensive cars through the privileges of Belarus in order to reduce the amount of customs duties. They will have to pay both Belarusian utilization and ours. That is - two of our scrappage fees," commented "Izvestia" vice-president of the National Automobile Union (NAU) Anton Shaparin.
On October 1, 2024, a government decree came into force in Russia, providing for a gradual indexation of the recycling fee rates for cars and trucks, buses, trailers and some types of road-building equipment. Since October, the utilization fee has increased by 70-85% on average. From January 1, 2025, the utilization fee rates increased for electric cars and consecutive hybrids, which is the first time in several years.
