The Czech police, having discovered new archival documents, resumed the investigation into the circumstances of the death on March 10, 1948 of the then foreign minister of Czechoslovakia Jan Masaryk. This was reported by Idnes on January 29, citing data from the Republican Police Department.

The breathless body of the foreign minister was then found in the courtyard of the Czerny Palace, where the residence of the diplomatic department is located.

"Everything pointed to the fact that he fell out of the window. Whether this was a suicide or a planned action by the communist regime remains unclear. Now the police have new evidence," the publication writes.

According to media reports, the case involves new diplomatic and intelligence documents that were previously kept in the archives of the United States, Britain and France. Having taken up the investigation again, the police intend to compare the information mentioned there with previously established facts in order to establish any new links that could shed light on hitherto unanswered questions.

Earlier, on January 22, People's Artist of Russia and State Duma deputy Nikolai Burlyaev sent an appeal to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation demanding an investigation into the circumstances of the death of Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov. According to the artist, everyone who was interested in the circumstances of the case is convinced that the investigation into the murder of the poet in a duel at the foot of Mount Mashuk on July 27, 1841 was conducted in bad faith.
