There were 234 traffic accidents in Russia over the past day

Over the past day, 234 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 23 people were killed and 309 injured. 26 of the dead were drivers and passengers of vehicles. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Wednesday, January 29, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 85 traffic accidents involving pedestrians, seven people were killed, another 80 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 16 child pedestrians, 10 of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents involving pedestrians, 47 occurred at crosswalks and 38 outside the crossing zone. With participation of minors 27 accidents were registered, in them 28 young road users were injured, including 11 passengers. There were no children killed.
With the participation of buses, 16 accidents were recorded on Tuesday, in which there were no fatalities, but 35 road users, including two children, required medical assistance. The cause of eight accidents involving buses were violations of traffic rules by their drivers.
Thus, in Barnaul, the driver of a city shuttle bus carrying 30 passengers, when passing a traffic circle intersection, did not give advantage in traffic and collided with a streetcar with 50 passengers on the main road. As a result of the accident two passengers of the bus were hospitalized with injuries, seven more passengers of the bus were injured and after medical care were sent for outpatient treatment. There are no casualties in the streetcar.
"We remind bus drivers that the life and health of their passengers in transportation entirely depend on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior of the person in the control cabin. You are transporting people and are responsible to the law for them while they are in the vehicle you are driving. That's why you should always go out for a work shift well rested and healthy, and before going on the route you should check the technical condition of the vehicles entrusted to you", - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.
He urged bus drivers to take advantage of the lanes allocated for public transport, observe the permitted speed limit, take into account the requirements of markings, road signs and traffic signals. They should be extremely careful when approaching crosswalks and passing intersections, especially unregulated or traffic circles. You should not be in a hurry to "skip" them, thereby creating a hindrance to other road users, including pedestrians.
On January 23, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia proposed to change the procedure for drawing up protocols when traffic inspectors detect drunk drivers. The draft federal law is undergoing a procedure of public discussion. Now, when detecting a driver with signs of intoxication, it is necessary to draw up three to five procedural documents. Drawing up these protocols in a number of cases seems redundant, the Interior Ministry said.
