The Second Western District Military Court sentenced 18-year-old Kursk resident Garik Grigoryan (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation) to seven years in a penal colony on charges of state treason, preparation for a terrorist act and other crimes. Grigoryan was found guilty of state treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code), participation in a terrorist community (Part 2 of Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code), as well as illegal trafficking of explosives (Part 4 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code). At the same time, he was acquitted of charges under the article on arms smuggling (article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) due to his non-involvement. The right to rehabilitation was recognized for him.
"The court sentence to the young man on the totality of crimes finally appointed a sentence of imprisonment for a term of seven years in a penal colony of general regime with a fine of 40 thousand rubles," - reported in court TASS.
At the same time, the state prosecution requested a ten-year sentence for Grigoryan, at the time of his arrest he was 17 years old. Prior to the prosecution, he was repeatedly extended the term of arrest. The defense intends to appeal the verdict.
Earlier, on December 12 last year, a resident of Kursk region was sentenced to 22 years in the case of state treason and committing a terrorist act. The man from November 2023 to February 2024 collected data on the transport infrastructure of the city for the Ukrainian special services. In addition, he blew up a pyrotechnic device in front of the public reception of a political party, and also participated in the arson of the branch of a charitable organization in Kursk.
