In 2024, the growth in the volume of cash in circulation in Russia amounted to 1.2%, which is the lowest indicator for the last 10 years. This is evidenced by the data published on the website of the Central Bank.

As of January 1, 2025, the volume of cash in circulation in Russia amounted to Br18.659 trillion, up from Br18.429 trillion a year earlier.

This shows that the demand for cash over the past year was stable and fluctuated from Br17.901 trillion (February) to Br18.025 trillion (December).

Earlier, on December 6, 2024, Sber head German Gref said that the bank had noted a 20% reduction in Russians' "mattress-pillow" money over the past six months. He noted that such a trend would allow for more active development of the Russian economy and earnings of the country's citizens.
