Bank customers have been asked to set up self-limitations to combat fraudsters

VTB will launch a service of client self-restrictions in February to combat fraudsters, the bank's press service said.
They specified that users of the application or web-version will be able to set up self-restrictions on online operations. This will allow to exclude unauthorized loan processing, early withdrawal of money from the deposit and transfers, the bank said.
"Fraud remains a "scourge" of the modern financial market, but now every VTB customer will have the opportunity to protect themselves independently in advance. The new service will allow to strengthen control over their finances and minimize the risks of fraud online," said Georgy Gorshkov, Deputy President and Chairman of the Bank's Management Board.
Starting from February, users will be able to set up a self-limit on online loans or early closure of deposits. In the future, it is planned to introduce the possibility of banning certain types of transactions, for example, for specific categories or predetermined limits. It will also be possible to set up a priority method of confirming transactions through options that are not available to phone fraudsters - via NFC (by holding the card to the phone) or biometrics.
Also on March 1, another service will be launched: individuals will be able to set a ban on unsecured loans through the Gosuslugi portal or when applying to a MFC. VTB is taking part in testing this mechanism.
