Peskov called Carlson's claim of a US assassination attempt on Putin unsubstantiated

Journalist Tucker Carlson, speaking about former US President Joe Biden 's plans to make an assassination attempt on Russian leader Vladimir Putin, did not provide any evidence. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on January 29.
"We don't quite understand what Tucker Carlson meant when he talked about this. He did not provide any evidence, so I am not in a position to comment on what he said. <...> Times are such that it is better not to take the word of unproven information, no matter who it comes from," the Russian presidential spokesman said.
Carlson made the statement about alleged U.S. plans to assassinate Putin the day before in an interview with Matt Taibi.
On January 28, Peskov said that Russian security services take all necessary measures to ensure public safety and the safety of persons under state protection on a permanent basis, when asked whether additional measures were taken after Carlson's statement about threats to Putin from the Biden administration.
