German Vice Chancellor says Europe threatened to be "torn apart"

The current US administration, as well as China and Russia, want to destroy the European way of life, and therefore Europe needs to find a unified position to counter this. German Vice Chancellor and Green Party candidate for Chancellor Robert Habeck said this in his address to Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Chairman Friedrich Merz, published on YouTube on January 28.
"The government of [US President Donald] Trump wants to destroy Europe. China wants to weaken Europe. Russia wants to destroy our European world order. If Europe does not find a unified position, it will be torn apart," Habeck said.
He also said that Merz, contrary to his earlier promises, is on the verge of forming a parliamentary majority with the Alternative for Germany (AdG), which Habeck claims is an enemy of the European Union (EU).
According to the vice chancellor, the FRG needs to improve the safety of all people in the country regardless of their origin, so the German government is taking steps to regulate disorderly migration.
"The number of asylum applications is decreasing, the number of deportations is increasing. Already, entry is being denied at German borders, but not to everyone, but in accordance with European law," Habeck concluded.
Earlier, on January 16, former German Finance Minister Oscar Lafontaine called for the immediate lifting of sanctions against Russia, which have already caused huge damage to the EU.
Last November 6, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) fired Finance Minister and leader of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) Christian Lindner from the cabinet. Lindner explained that Scholz had thus ended cooperation with the entire FDP.
Scholz later passed a vote of confidence in the government, which was considered in the Bundestag on December 16. Parliament eventually passed a vote of no confidence in the cabinet, after which President Frank Walter-Steinmeier called a snap election to be held on February 23.
