In the State Duma proposed to allow to pass for an external driver's license

The State Duma has proposed to allow Russians to take an external driver's license after 30 hours of lessons with an instructor, as well as to pass the theory without mandatory attendance at a driving school. The initiative belongs to the deputy from the faction "New People" Anton Tkachev, he sent an appeal to the head of the Russian Interior Ministry Vladimir Kolokoltsev, reports "RIA Novosti" on January 29.

According to Tkachev, the possibility of independent preparation for driver's license exams will allow Russians to save money. Thus, the average cost of training in a driving school in Russia is 25 thousand rubles. In Moscow, St. Petersburg and a number of other cities the cost reaches 50 thousand, he pointed out.

According to the deputy, the implementation of the initiative will not lead to a deterioration in the quality of training of drivers who will successfully pass the exams. Those citizens who prepare on their own will be obliged to pass the same exams as those who are trained in a driving school. At the same time, "the possibility of dishonestly obtaining a driver's license is significantly limited," according to the appeal to the head of the Interior Ministry.

Earlier, on January 18, the Russian Interior Ministry said that driving licenses, which expired or will expire between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2025, will need to be replaced three years from that date.

On December 31 last year, the State Automobile Inspectorate urged drivers to replace the license expired in 2022. The agency reminded that owners of invalid licenses will need to undergo a medical examination, pay the established state duty and get a new license by applying to the State Automobile Inspectorate.
