A project to raise the level of tourist culture will be launched in Teriberka

In Teriberka, Murmansk Region, a project is being implemented to improve the level of environmental culture of tourists. The project "Wings of the Arctic: Conservation of Nature in Teriberka" of the Dobrota Severa charitable foundation became one of the winners of the Presidential Grants Fund competition.

IA "Beeport" with reference to the regional Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Fisheries notes that more than 12 million rubles will be allocated for the project implementation. Additional financing from Olenegorsk Mining and Processing Plant and the Directorate of Specially Protected Natural Areas of Regional Importance is also possible.

The activities will be carried out in the Teriberka Nature Park. The authors of the project note that in recent years there has been a surge of tourist interest in this place. However, the excessive tourist flow causes damage to the local nature.

Thus, tourists damage bird nesting sites, leave garbage in natural areas, provoke conflicts with the local population.

The Dobrota Severa Foundation proposes to create a special viewing platform to observe birds from a safe distance and minimize the negative impact on the population.

In addition, along the ecotrail created last year, information stands will be set up so that tourists will know the rules of behavior in the specially protected natural zone. Educational programs and excursions will also be organized to raise awareness among travelers. The project will pay special attention to the development and dissemination of educational programs through courses, guides and online platforms.

The project will start from February 1 and will be completed on December 31, 2025.
