China's Alibaba has unveiled a new more powerful AI model

Chinese company Alibaba Cloud has unveiled a new artificial intelligence (AI) language model called Qwen 2.5-Max, which has more power compared to the DeepSeek model. The company said on its website on January 28.
"Qwen2.5-Max outperforms DeepSeek V3 in tests such as Arena-Hard, LiveBench, LiveCodeBench, and GPQA-Diamond, and shows competitive results in other evaluations including MMLU-Pro," the publication stated.
Representatives of Alibaba Cloud emphasized that the new AI model outperforms DeepSeek in a number of characteristics and expressed hope to achieve a level of intelligence that can surpass human intelligence.
The day before, on January 28, CNBC tech columnist Deirdre Boza said that DeepSeek will compete with Google and OpenAI. She believes that she believes that if such models develop and become more affordable, it could lead to a rapid lowering of barriers to entry into the AI development market.
Before that, on January 27, the media wrote that the excitement around the appearance of Chinese chatbot DeepSeek provoked a stock market crash in the United States.
In December 2024, Deirdre Boza, in an interview with CNBC, already stated the advantages of the Chinese DeepSeek, noting that this model would be a real breakthrough in the AI sphere and would challenge the U.S. dominance in the technology industry.
