Reuters reported on the investigation of Italian Prime Minister Meloni

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has come under investigation over the government's decision to release a Libyan police officer wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC). This was reported by Reuters on January 28 with reference to Meloni's social networks.
According to the publication, Osama Najim was detained on an ICC warrant for crimes against humanity, but a few days later he was released and flown home by an Italian state plane.
The ICC then demanded an explanation, and Rome's chief prosecutor Francesco Le Voi opened an investigation into Meloni on suspicion of "aiding and abetting crime and misuse of public funds," Reuters notes.
"I will not allow myself to be blackmailed, I will not allow myself to be intimidated, and perhaps this is why I am, shall we say, not loved by those who do not want Italy to change and become better," the Italian prime minister said in a video message published on her Facebook page (owned by the recognized extremist company Meta, its activities are banned in Russia).
It is specified that the investigation is also carried out in relation to other Italian politicians: justice Minister Carlo Nordio, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi and Deputy Minister for Intelligence Alfredo Mantovano.
Earlier, on January 7, it was reported that a court in Belgian Liege is considering legal immunity for the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen, who was accused of corruption in the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer in 2020 for more than €35 billion without the agreement of the EU countries.
On January 21, media reported that the Liege court dropped the case against von der Leyen. It was noted that the court refused to consider the lawsuit filed by Frederic Baldan against the defendant. The court did not specify the reasons for the refusal. However, the lawyers do not exclude the possibility of filing an appeal against this court decision.
