Lada crossover "T-134", which was first shown publicly to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his working trip to the Samara region, is the idea of adapting the design project "Niva-3" under the Lada Vesta platform. This was reported by Telegram-channel "Autopotok".

The new generation of Lada Niva was developed in cooperation between AvtoVAZ and Renault on the basis of the CMF-B-LS platform from Renault-Nissan. It is noted that the code designation "T-134" is supposed to evoke associations with famous Soviet products - the tank "T-34" and airliner "Tu-134".

"Such associations on the one hand emphasize the ideological component of the car (simple, practical, reliable), on the other hand - will help in obtaining state support for the implementation of the project," the report said on January 28.

However, no real research and development (R&D) work has been done on the T-134 yet, the post claims.

AvtoVAZ's press service did not share details about the T-134 project, noting only that it is an urban crossover, and its mockup was shown at the event. Also at the meeting with Putin, the head of state was shown mock-ups of the B+cross crossover and the B-Van minivan.

Earlier, on December 26 last year, the head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov reported that serial production of Lada crossovers based on Vesta will start in early 2026. The world premiere of the model will take place in June 2025 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
