A white substance of unknown origin was found on the beaches of the Finnish peninsula Hanko. This was reported on January 28 by the portal MTV Uutiset.

"Last Sunday the rescue service received a message about a white substance found on the shores of Hanko", - stated in the publication.

It is specified that an unknown substance of white color was found between the central area of Hanko and Tverminne. The beaches were covered with white substance for 20 kilometers. In addition, special services reported the presence of the substance in the area of Tulliniemi.

As the portal notes, the origin of the substance is unknown, its elements have been sent for laboratory examination. According to preliminary information, the substance is "moderately harmful", but, in fact, not dangerous to human health.

Earlier, on January 14, it was reported that in Sydney nine beaches were closed for swimming after the discovery on the shore of white-gray balls consisting of soap, vegetable oil and drug residues.

Before that, on October 16, 2024, eight beaches were closed in Sydney, on which 2 thousand small black balls of unknown origin were thrown. Vacationers were asked not to touch the material until its composition was clarified. After examination, it became known that the objects made of fatty acids, fuel oil and other substances are related to the production of cosmetics and cleaning products.
