In St. Petersburg, the Palace Bridge was opened in honor of Chinese New Year

In honor of the Chinese New Year celebrations in St. Petersburg, the Palace Bridge was unfurled and illuminated red in the color of the Chinese flag. Images from the scene are at the disposal of Izvestia.

"We are very happy to notice that Chinese and Russians visit Russia and China very often. This reflects the level of our relations," said Luo Zhanhui, Chinese Consul General in St. Petersburg.

Also at the event, Evgeny Grigoriev, a member of the St. Petersburg Government and chairman of the city's Committee for External Relations, cited the friendship between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping as an example. In his opinion, the leaders of the two countries showed everyone how to be friends.

"We should get to know each other, learn their histories, traditions and, naturally, celebrate holidays together. Russia and China together - and we will win," Grigoryev emphasized.

At the same time, the ceremony of the bridge's unfurling was broadcasted on the Chinese Central Television.

Earlier in the day the festival "Chinese New Year in Moscow" opened in Moscow. The festival is part of the cross program of events within the framework of the Years of Culture of Russia and China and will last until February 9.
