At least 15 people killed in crush at religious festival in India


At least 15 people were killed in a stampede at the Kumbha Mela festival in the Indian city of Prayagraj. Channel News Asia reported on January 29.
"At least 15 people have passed away so far. The rest are undergoing treatment," the publication said.
It is reported that at the religious festival, many injured visitors were hospitalized. At the same time, some of them are in serious condition.
TV channel NDTV, referring to the words of officials, indicated that during the crush at the festival several women suffocated.
Earlier, on January 28, in India, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, in the collapse of a makeshift stage made of bamboo during a religious festival killed six people and 50 others were injured. It is noted that the bamboo platform collapsed under the weight of hundreds of worshippers. A stampede ensued due to panic.
