It became known about the distribution of Russians detained in Tunisia in three prisons

A group of Russian tourists, consisting of 11 people, detained in Tunisia, has been distributed in three prisons of the country. This was reported to "RIA Novosti" on January 29 by the brother of one of the detainees.

"As far as I understand, initially all of ours were to be held in Mornagia, but due to lack of places or for other reasons they were distributed to different prisons. My brother was transported from one prison to another several times during all this time," he said.

He also specified that the detainees are now in the cities of Mornagia, Burj al-Ameri and Babelli. The condition of the Russians is unknown, personal contact with them is not established.

The detention of a group of Russian tourists in Tunisia became known on December 17, 2024. They were sent to the prison Mornagia, famous for cruel conditions and torture. Then the fiancée of one of the detainees said that the travelers were visited by representatives of the consulate, but due to the lack of interpreters, the investigation is moving very slowly.

On the same day, the diplomatic mission said that the Russian Embassy in Tunisia was in contact with the country's authorities regarding the detained Russians. After familiarizing themselves with the situation, the diplomats noted that the rights of the Russian citizens placed in prison are not violated. None of them complains about their state of health.

Later, on January 11, the fiancée of one of the travelers, Anastasia, said that the Russian tourists detained in Tunisia are still in custody without officially filed charges.
