A magnitude 5.6 earthquake was recorded in the Irkutsk region


An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 has been registered in the Irkutsk region. This was reported on January 29 in the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.
"According to information from the Baikal branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, today at 06:54 (01:54 Moscow time) seismic event was registered, epicenter in the water area of Lake Baikal, 36 km from the village of Bolshoye Goloustnoye, Irkutsk district. Intensity in the epicenter of 5.6 points", - stated in the message of the regional department in Telegram-channel/.
At the same time, the sensitivity in the city of Irkutsk amounted to 3 points.
As a result of the tremors there were no destructions and victims. All infrastructure facilities are operating in normal mode, the department added.
Earlier, on January 26, near the coast of Kamchatka there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5. It is reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 48 km.
