Wilfand warned residents of the Far East about dangerous weather

Heavy snowfall and winds of 25-27 m/s are predicted in the coming days in Primorye, Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. This was reported on January 29 by the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.
"In Primorsky Krai and Sakhalin in the near future will be dangerous weather. There [is forecast] heavy snowfall, winds of 25 m/s, on Sakhalin even 27 m/s, and on the Kuril Islands even more, so [there will be] snowstorms, worsening visibility, very difficult weather exactly in the very southeast of the country. Although the weather is warm," TASS quoted him as saying.
As Vilfand noted, warm weather remains in the Urals, the Volga region, Siberia, Yakutia, Khabarovsk and Primorsky Krai. At the same time, cold centers are observed in Chukotka.
Earlier, on January 28, leading expert of the weather center "Phobos" Mikhail Leus told "Izvestia" that in January the temperature is higher than the climatic norm because this year the high frontal zone is located in the areas of the Arctic coast of the Russian Federation and cyclones, passing mainly by northern routes, brought warm air from the Atlantic and the Mediterranean instead of cold air.
