Analysts named cities leaders in construction in 2024


Rostov-on-Don, Kazan and Ufa showed the greatest growth in construction volumes by the end of 2024. This was told to "Izvestia" in the analytical center of IA "Dvizhenie.ru" and DEVISION, which conducted a study of 22 cities where the volume of construction in 2024 exceeded one million square meters.
"Assessing the final construction figures in Russia's largest real estate markets, we can note several key changes. St. Petersburg, where construction volumes have been declining for the past four years, has dropped to third place in terms of current construction space, with Krasnodar coming in second with 5.9 million square meters. Yekaterinburg, Tyumen and Rostov-on-Don retained their positions. Novosibirsk yielded to Ufa, which increased its construction area to 2.9 mln sq. m. Kazan, Perm and Khabarovsk strengthened their positions," the study says.
At the same time, the four cities where in 2024 the volume of housing construction exceeded one million square meters were Ryazan, Mytishchi, Nizhny Novgorod and Penza.
But the leader in terms of growth of construction area was Rostov-on-Don, the volumes increased by 35%. Kazan (+32%) and Ufa (+30%) are also in the top three. The areas of current construction in Yekaterinburg, Khabarovsk, Tyumen, Vladivostok and Perm increased by 20-30%.
The largest decrease in construction areas in percentage terms occurred in Krasnodar (by 7.1%), Samara (8.78%), Izhevsk (11.7%) and St. Petersburg, which became the leader in the reduction of construction (21%).
Earlier, January 23, it was reported that, according to calculations of analysts "Metrium" on the basis of data from the Rosreestr of Moscow, at the end of 2024, the number of transactions in the market of housing under construction in the capital decreased by 25%, ready apartments - by 16%. The number of issued mortgage loans decreased by 11%.
