KHL disqualified Lokomotiv forward Shalunov for two games for rudeness


The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) suspended Lokomotiv forward Maxim Shalunov for two games for rudeness towards a player of the opposing team. This was reported in the press service of the league on January 28.
It is noted that in the regular season-2024/25 KHL championship match between Lokomotiv and Dynamo on Monday, January 27, the forward pushed the opposing team's center forward Artem Ilyenko with his stick. As a result, the hockey player was injured and out for at least a month.
Based on the submitted materials from the match, the KHL Sports and Disciplinary Committee appointed Shalunov punishment in the form of a monetary fine and disqualification for two matches.
Earlier, on January 21, SKA St. Petersburg defeated Lokomotiv Yaroslavl 5-2, thus breaking a four-game losing streak. The winners scored goals from forwards Zakhar Bardakov, Ivan Demidov, Sergei Plotnikov and Arseny Gritsyuk and defenseman Alexander Nikishin.
