However, winter should not be written off: minus temperatures can give its undeniable advantages in favor of certain types of work. What disadvantages and advantages winter repair has, told "Izvestia" on January 29 construction expert, founder and CEO of the company "GLASNAB" Fedor Vasiliev.

According to him, the cold season is a great way to identify the shortcomings of insulation and heating system of the house. In sub-zero temperatures it is easier to detect heat leaks, places of condensate accumulation and work on these areas.

"The economic aspect will also be to your advantage: in winter, the construction industry dies, orders are extremely few, but you need to earn. Therefore, you will surely find craftsmen at a significantly more favorable price. Also in construction stores, prices for building materials fall by at least 15-20%. However, the nuance is that the stores sell off the rest, so the material you need may simply not be in the desired quantity," - said the expert.

In addition, he drew attention to the fact that winter limits the range of possible work. For example, in the minus it is not recommended to install windows, heating radiators, as it will require long approvals, to make painting works, replacement of floor screed. Plastering is also impossible to perform in winter because of the inability to properly ventilate the room. Heat gun in this case is not the best solution, as intensive drying at high temperatures for materials is harmful, said Vasiliev.

"Of the disadvantages of winter repair can also be noted increased energy consumption. The daylight hours in winter are very short, and in order to continue work, additional lights will be needed. Heating costs will also come into a penny," he explained.

However, he emphasized that there are types of work that do not depend on the warm season and can be carried out even in the cold. These include installing interior doors, laying floor coverings, pasting wallpaper or installing a stretch ceiling. It is also possible to change electrics and plumbing without problems.

"To summarize, we can say that winter repairs can be carried out quite successfully. Yes, most of the rough types of work at this time will not be able to do, but finishing work will not create in winter time big problems," - concluded Vasiliev.
