- An expert assessed the consequences if the EU bans sales of game consoles to Russia

In case the European Union (EU) bans sales of game consoles to Russia, it will not affect Russian gamers, Yasha Khaddazhi, head of the Russian Association of Distributors and Importers of Video Games (R.A.D.I.) and CEO of Achivka, told Izvestia on January 28. At the same time, he said, prices will not increase.
Earlier in the day, the Financial Times reported that the EU plans to ban sales of video game consoles to Russia, believing it will hinder the military, which allegedly uses the devices to control drones.
"The EU can only ban exports of products it manufactures. They do not produce any consoles, so this ban will not affect Russian gamers," Haddaji explained.
In addition, he expressed the opinion that the price will not increase due to this possible restriction. The expert noted that the Russian ruble has strengthened since the beginning of January, so if the trend continues, it is likely that the cost of consoles will decrease in the coming months.
Earlier, on December 10, it was reported that a third of Russians (28.9%) are fond of cybersports. Among them, the share of men is 61.9%. This is stated in the results of the research of the analytical center of the Association for the development of interactive advertising.
