- Russians have become more interested in gaming computers and consoles

By the end of 2024, the turnover of the gaming segment in Russia increased by 20% compared to 2023. Sales of computer components increased, while prices for most components decreased or increased slightly. There is a trend towards online purchases of components, as well as a growing interest in gaming computers and consoles, according to the research results of the service for accepting online and offline payments "UKassa" (owned by UMoneu) and the analytical center "Check Index" of the company "Platform OFD", which were read by "Izvestia" on January 29.
According to analysts, in 2024 compared to 2023, the number of payments in the segment of gaming resources increased by 13%, and the average check became 6% more and amounted to 550 rubles.
"The greatest growth was in the fourth quarter. This is due to the release of many novelties at the end of the year and the November sales, which fuel the interest of buyers. In relation to the third quarter, the segment's turnover increased by 71%, the number of payments - by 46%, and the average check - by 17%, to 614 rubles," - said the commercial director of UMopeu Dmitry Karmishin.
Experts specified that last year sales of game consoles grew on the background of a low base of 2023.
"This is explained by the general growth in consumption and inflationary expectations of buyers, as well as the resolution of issues with restrictive factors in terms of access to games of top brands," explained the analysts of Check Index.
In 2024, the number of purchases of game consoles increased by 32%, and the median price amounted to 25,993 rubles, which is 14% more than in 2023.
The demand for computer components has also increased, although the cost of some items has slightly decreased. Thus, the number of purchases of power supply units for PCs increased by 19%, while the price decreased by 3% to Br5,430. There were 4% more purchases of video cards, and the median price decreased by 8% to 37 007 rubles. The number of processor purchases increased by 2%, and the price tag decreased by 3%, to 15,223 rubles.
Russians also began to purchase motherboards more often (up 18% year-on-year), with the cost rising by 4%, to 6,607 rubles. There were 11% more purchases of RAM, and the price tag increased by 10% to 2,223 rubles. The number of purchases of hard disks increased by 14%, and the price - by 11%, up to 6975 rubles, according to the results of the study.
"PC components are most actively bought online. The growth of the segment strengthens the interest in gaming versions of computers, many users seek to improve their PCs for their own needs," - added analysts "Check Index".
Earlier, on December 10, it was reported that a third of Russians (28.9%) are fond of cybersports. Among them, the share of men is 61.9%. This is stated in the results of the research of the analytical center of the Association for the development of interactive advertising.
