US President Donald Trump will suspend the supply of HIV and malaria drugs to countries that are supported by the United States Agency for International Development. Reuters reported on January 28 that.

"This move is part of a broader freeze on US aid and funding, which was introduced since Trump took office on January 20," - stated in the material.

It is noted that this order of the American leader will suspend the work of organizations that helped 6.5 million orphans and children with HIV in 23 countries. The Trump administration also sent on vacation about 60 senior officials from the US Agency for International Development.

Atula Gawande, former head of USAID's Global Health Division, said the drugs supplied by the agency kept 20 million HIV-positive people alive. Therefore, he regarded Trump's decision as a "catastrophe."

The day before, on January 25, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) froze programs to support foreign countries, including Ukraine. It is specified that this instruction does not affect only military aid to Egypt and Israel.

At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio suspended the financing of foreign aid programs for 90 days. In addition to Ukraine, this decision affected such US allies as Jordan and Taiwan. The change, continuation or closure of the programs will take place exclusively by order of the Secretary of State.

On January 21, Trump suspended US development assistance to other countries for 90 days by executive order. The rationale is that the "foreign aid industry" is not in Washington's interests, often contradicts U.S. values, and supports destabilization in the world.

Also on that day, Trump signed an executive order withdrawing the World Health Organization (WHO) from the States. He reasoned that the population of the PRC exceeds the number of people living in America, but despite this, China transfers many times less money to the WHO.
