The people of Abkhazia are faithful to allied obligations with Russia. This was stated by acting president of the republic Valery Bganba in an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, published on January 28 in the Telegram channel of the press service of the Abkhazian leader.

Bganba expressed gratitude to Russia for the "unique format" of bilateral relations.

"The people of Abkhazia have always shown loyalty to allied obligations. We are a reliable partner of Russia in confronting the collective West," the acting president said.

Since the first days of the Special Military Operation (SMO) Abkhazia has been supporting the goals and objectives of the Russian Federation, Bganba added.

Acting President asked Putin not to allow processes that could negatively affect the long-standing friendly ties between Abkhazia and Russia.

Earlier Acting President Badra Gunba went on vacation in connection with registration as a candidate for the presidency of the republic. In accordance with his decree, the execution of presidential duties for the period of the election campaign was entrusted to previously acting Prime Minister Bganba.

Earlier, on December 30 last year, acting head of the Abkhazian Ministry of Finance Vladimir Delba said that financial assistance to Abkhazia from Russia will amount to 5.2 billion rubles in 2025. According to Delba, most of these funds will be directed to socio-economic development of the country.

At the same time acting President of Abkhazia Badra Gunba promised to make efforts to strengthen relations with Russia. He also expressed gratitude to the Russian side for support in overcoming the energy crisis.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on December 25 that Russia expects Abkhazia to fulfill its investment commitments under the agreements. Before that, on December 23, Russia started humanitarian supplies of electricity to the republic.
