Igor Ugolnikov, producer:
- It's very difficult to make comedies about war, but there are good examples - both military and recent. We were primarily inspired by the movie "Restless Farm" - in my opinion, one of the greatest comedies about the Great Patriotic War. Of course, it's not a remake, it's a completely different story, and the wonderful possibilities of the "VoenFilm" site in Medyn - military equipment, airplanes, a runway, opportunities to erect any scenery - helped us to tell this story as truthfully and authentically as possible. It was a common practice - false airfields were made not only by ours, but also by the Germans. It is clear that at that time they did not make such detailed models of airplanes, used plywood simple units, but we decided to make them beautifully - for the movie. We decided that it should be not only historically accurate, but also beautiful.
Alexander Zhigalkin, director of photography:
- This is a movie about war. About people of war. In our movie the actual military action is not as dense as it usually happens in war movies. We are more about people, about their relationships, which have everything - drama and humor, irony and love, readiness for self-sacrifice. This is a movie about ordinary people of the war, who with their own hands created the Victory, forged it in the most unexpected areas - for example, our heroes serve at a false airfield. Heroic comedy - a genre today atypical. Such films were made during the Great Patriotic War - spiritually uplifting in essence and propaganda in orientation. Today, it seems to me, is a time when war movies should be made, seemingly light, but dramatic. There is war and there is death in it, but at the same time people remain human. Their relationships and the situations in which they find themselves can bring smiles and laughter. Sometimes through tears.
Alexander Karpov, scriptwriter:
- In my opinion, we have started a very interesting story, in which there is drama, there are heroic people, there are wonderful relationships between people, there is faith in our Victory. We're talking about the exploits of days gone by, but we're telling it in a very modern way. Genuine feelings and our very kind and reverent attitude to the theme we have chosen will not leave indifferent the modern viewer - neither the older nor the younger generation.
Daniil Popov, the performer of the role of pilot Ivan Polivanov:
- Our movie is both a war drama and a heroic comedy. In my opinion, this movie is about growing up and about kindness, about being more sensitive to others. The main thing is, as Oleg Tabakov said, "to remain human in any situation". I really like the material - it is heartfelt and light. A necessary work! Impressions from the work are very bright - from the team, and from the locations, and from the script, and from the professionalism in everything.
Alexey Shevchenkov, the performer of the role of Sergeant Serdyukov:
- According to the script, on this false airfield, people who can no longer take a direct part in combat operations - after a serious wound or contusion - have gathered. But at the same time, these people want to fight the enemy, even in rear units, but to bring the Victory closer. This desire to stay in the ranks, to strike the enemy once again, responsibility and sense of duty are the qualities that are inherent, among others, in my hero.
Sofia Lopunova, the performer of the role of the Red Army soldier Lyuba Veselkina:
- My character is the soul of this story, its lyrical component. But at the same time Lyuba is a brave little person, fighting on a par with everyone else. This is my first role in a movie about the war. The Great Patriotic War is a page of history that should not be forgotten. And I am proud to take part in this project, to give it and this theme a part of myself.
