Trump has offered to build housing for Palestinians in other countries

US President Donald Trump said on January 28 that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip would be better off living elsewhere, as the enclave has experienced various armed conflicts over the years.
"People are dying there, so I would rather engage with some Arab countries and build housing elsewhere where I think they could live in peace for a change," he told reporters aboard Air Force One. His words are quoted by CNN.
In addition, the US president said he had a conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi about accepting Palestinian refugees.
Also, Trump said that some of the residents of Gaza could be placed in Jordan. According to UN estimates, there are already 2.39 million registered Palestinian refugees in the country, writes CNN.
January 27, deputy chairman of the politburo of the Palestinian movement Hamas Musa Abu Marzouk said that the organization is ready to conduct a dialogue with the US authorities. Earlier, on January 25, Trump announced the possibility of resettling refugees from the Gaza Strip in a number of Arab countries. The proposal involves the potential relocation of up to 1.5 million people from Gaza to neighboring countries Egypt and Jordan.
The agreement on a ceasefire in Gaza became known on January 15. On January 19, the first phase of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas came into effect. During the first phase of the deal lasting 42 days, 33 Israeli hostages and about 1.9 thousand Palestinians are to be released. On the same day, the movement released three hostages in exchange for 90 Palestinian prisoners, and on January 26, four military girls were handed over to the Red Cross.
The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas launched a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip into Israel. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
