The Supreme Court of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic (KRC) recognized the Nazi crimes on the territory of the region during the Great Patriotic War as genocide of the Soviet people. This was reported on January 28 by the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia.
"Today the court satisfied the statement of the prosecutor's office prepared on behalf of [Russian Prosecutor General] Igor Krasnov on the establishment of the fact of genocide of the peoples of the Soviet Union," - wrote the press service of the agency in Telegram.
It is noted that during the occupation of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic fascist invaders caused damage to the economy and infrastructure of the region in the amount of more than 13 billion rubles.
Earlier, December 30, 2024, the Supreme Court of Belarus found the deceased commander of the 118th battalion of the security police Konstantin Smovski guilty of committing genocide. The investigation revealed 26 cases of crimes committed by Smovsky. His participation in massacres, including atrocities in the village of Khatyn and other settlements, was proved.
Before that, on December 17, it was reported that the crimes of the Nazi invaders, which were committed on the territory of Kabardino-Balkaria during the Great Patriotic War, were recognized as genocide of the peoples of the USSR.
