- Borisov announced the creation of a space constellation of 650 satellites by 2030

Russia's orbital constellation should reach about 650 state satellites by 2030. This was announced on January 28 by Yuri Borisov, Director General of Roscosmos, at the plenary session of the XLIX Academic Readings on Cosmonautics in memory of S. P. Korolev. P. Korolev.
"The goal of the project is to create a multi-satellite constellation of about 650 vehicles by 2030," TASS quoted Borisov as saying.
According to him, the task of the national project is to strengthen domestic positions in space, as well as to help the industry become a driver in ensuring technological sovereignty.
In addition, Borisov added that this number does not include commercial satellites. In his opinion, each satellite "will become Russia's eyes, ears or voice in space," which will help ensure navigation and monitoring of the Earth.
Earlier, on January 10, the head of Roscosmos called the Russian system of cosmonaut training the best in the world. According to him, the domestic system of preparation for space flight as before remains the best.
In December 2024, Borisov said that Russia is in third place in creating a national space constellation. According to him, the constellation currently has about 288 satellites. In 2024, Roscosmos launched 99 new vehicles, not counting the Resurs-P satellite planned for the end of the year.
