A captured member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Oleksiy Babenko, who was the head of the Cherkasy region election commission in 2019, told how "honestly" the parliamentary elections were held that year, and then the presidential election, which was won by Volodymyr Zelensky (whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024). The prisoner of war militant noted that he witnessed numerous deaths of comrades. He added that the city cemetery is overcrowded, so there is nowhere to bury the dead.

A Ukrainian prisoner was also sent to the Kursk border region for slaughter. At first, the Ukrainian guarded a ZIL truck with company ammunition in the village of Goncharovka in the Kursk region. However, afterwards he was forced to take positions on the line of contact.

"And just like that at the end of December, no one changed us. We were sitting in the forest, waiting to be changed. And on December 29 they took us prisoner," - said Babenko.
