The State Duma will consider a law to protect citizens from excessive spending

The State Duma plans to consider a bill that provides for the protection of citizens from the imposition of additional paid goods and services. This was announced by the Chairman of the lower house of Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin on January 28.
"It is important to do everything to protect citizens from excessive spending, conclusion of contracts on unfavorable conditions for them, manipulation, and in some cases - threats and blackmail," he pointed out in his Telegram-channel.
According to Volodin, most often there is an imposition of air and railroad tickets by remote method. He noted that people do not notice how they are imposed paid additional services, for example, under the guise of sms-alerts.
In this regard, it was proposed to sell additional goods, services and works only with the consent of the consumer, as well as to establish a ban on excessive imposition of additional paid goods.
In addition, to provide the right for the consumer to refuse to pay for goods, works and services that were not necessary as an additional function.
In December 2024, it was noted that Russians increased spending on goods by 6.8% in the first nine months of 2024 compared to the same period last year. At the same time, spending on services increased by 5.3%. Russians spent Br44 trillion on goods and Br13.9 trillion on services. Expenditures on mandatory payments and contributions amounted to Br10.5 trillion.
