In Buryatia, a woman was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for helping fraudsters

Ulan-Ude court sentenced a 26-year-old woman to 6.5 years in a penal colony for involvement in embezzlement of more than 139 million rubles. This was reported on January 28 by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Buryatia.

"The October district court of Ulan-Ude, taking into account the opinion of the state prosecution, sentenced the guilty to six years and six months of imprisonment with serving her sentence in a penal colony of general regime," - stated in the publication of the department in Telegram.

The attacker was found guilty of committing 127 episodes of crimes under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed with the infliction of particularly large damage to a citizen, by an organized group) and 36 facts - under paragraph "a" of Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft committed with the infliction of large damage to a citizen, from a bank account, by an organized group).

As told in the agency, the court found that the woman in the spring of 2020 entered the organizational criminal group (OCG), where she was engaged in deceiving citizens using information and telecommunication technologies. Thus, she looked for those ready to open bank accounts in her name "for a fee", after which she received bank cards and gave them to her accomplices. They, in turn, informed the victims about attempts to make unauthorized debits and offered them to transfer their savings to safe accounts.

According to the prosecutor's office, 165 citizens became victims of the fraudulent scheme. The damage to the victims amounted to more than 139 million rubles.

It is noted that the verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
