Carlson called the Nord Stream explosions a US attack on Germany

The explosions on the Russian gas pipelines "Nord Stream" and "Nord Stream-2" were an attack by the United States on Germany and will lead to the destruction of NATO. This statement was made by American journalist Tucker Carlson on January 27.

"This was an attack by one NATO force on an ally, on another NATO member. It was an attack by the United States on Germany," he said during an interview with journalist Matt Taibbi.

Furthermore, according to Carlson, the German economy had already been destroyed by the undermining of the Nord Streams. Now, he continued, it will destroy the European Union (EU), and "when people wake up from illusions, NATO will collapse as well," since the attack was an attack of one member of the alliance against its ally.

Taibbi, in turn, called the story with "Nord Streams" one of the most absurd events of recent years.

Earlier, on January 20, Bundestag deputy from the party "Union of Sarah Wagenknecht - for reason and justice" Sevim Dagdelen called for the reopening of the gas pipeline "Nord Stream - 2", as well as to import Russian oil. She pointed out that otherwise Germany will continue to suffer economic decline as "self-destructive sanctions" against Russia tighten.

In late December 2024, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic suggested that the United States may wish to acquire Nord Stream within a year to supply gas from Russia to Europe. At the same time, Igor Yushkov, analyst of the National Energy Security Fund, considered such a scenario unlikely.

According to the December estimates of the Swiss company Transliq AG, the costs in case of repairing Nord Stream-2 may amount to up to €633 million, taking into account the future operation of the pipeline.

Leaks at the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines were discovered in September 2022. Two powerful underwater explosions were registered at the pipelines. Traces of explosives were found at the accident site. Russia is seeking an international investigation into the terrorist attacks. In February 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that the CIA was responsible for the explosions.
