The volume of malt for beer production will be monitored in the Russian Federation. The minutes of the last meeting of the State Commission, the profile of which is combating the illegal turnover of industrial products; its work is supervised by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, are ready. At the meeting, experts from various departments discussed, among other things, counterfeiting in the beer industry and the tools that will help to combat it.

As a result, Denis Manturov instructed the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Finance and the CRPT labeling operator to assess whether it is necessary to trace the movement of malt along the supply chain in the federal information system "Grain" during the first quarter.

The Ministry of Agriculture is responsible for the "Grain" system, which takes into account the movement of raw materials from the producer to the shelf, while the CRPT and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are the operators of the "Honest Mark" system of labeling and traceability of goods. Finished beer products are already included in the latter, and their volumes have already been tracked since April 2023, depending on the type of beverage.

The authorities intend to understand how effective it is to compare data from these two systems, explains a source who attended the State Commission meeting. Officials assume that such an approach will make it possible to assess the level of counterfeit and subsequently exclude it from the market, and thus improve the safety and quality of products, he said. In the company "Baltika" Izvestia reminded that there are different estimates of the illegal market: from 10%, according to the Ministry of Finance, to 22%, according to the Center for Consumer Market Development, Faculty of Economics, Moscow State University.

At present, in some cases in the production of beer malt is replaced by sugar, glucose, unmalted grain, such as oats, rice, wheat, less often corn, as well as flakes of different grains, told Izvestia head of the "Public Consumer Initiative" Oleg Pavlov.
